Applications

1.used as a hardening agent in alloys with Platinum and Osmium.

2.Used for crucibles highly resistant to corrosion , special containers and other apparatus resistant to intense heat.

3.Alloyed with Platinum to make heavy duty electrical contacts such as high performance technically advanced spark plugs for use in the automotive and aviation industries.

4.As a catalyst to produce organic acids e.g. ethanoic acid .

5.Iridium alloyed with Osmium is used to tip fountain pen nibs and in pivot bearings such as those found in compasses, surgical tools and other special equipment.

6.Apply to electrical instrumentation, chemical industry and production of precision alloy .
