Astaxanthin is one of a group ofnatural pigment known as xanthophylls, a subcategory of thecaroenoid family. Salmon & shellfish get their red or pinkishcolor from diet of krill and other small organisms that in turn eatastaxanthin-rich algae and plankton.You can get some astaxanthin byeating those food, but taking supplements extracted from microalgaeis far more beneficial.
