The reducation of NOx is accomplished by lowering enginecombustion emperature by recirculating metered amounts of burnedexhaust gases back through the intake manifold where they ate mixedwith fresh air-fuel mixture. The EGR device with position sensorprovides feedback tothe engine computer so that precise flowcontrol is possible in order to achieve desirable operatingconditions and have quick response in the dynamic mode.
