Avocado Oil
The avocado (Persea americana) is a dense, evergreen tree,shedding many leaves in early spring. It is fast growing and canwith age reach 80 feet, although usually less, and generallybranches to form a broad tree.Avocado leaves are alternate, glossy,elliptic and dark green with paler veins. They normally remain onthe tree for 2 to 3 years. The leaves of West Indian varieties arescentless, while Guatemalan types are rarely anise-scented and havemedicinal use. The leaves of Mexican types have a pronounced anisescent when crushed. The leaves are high in oils and slow to compostand may collect in mounds beneath trees.
Avacado Oil: It is obtained from the pear shaped fruit andis having regenerative and moisturizing properties and hence isused in cosmetics. It is also used as a carrier oil for otherflavors. It is high in vitamins A and D, lecithin, potassium aswell as vitamin E. As a culinary oil, avocado oil compares wellwith olive oil. Like olive oil, avocado oil is one of few vegetableoils not derived from seeds; it is pressed from the fleshy pulpsurrounding the avocado pit. Avocado oil is easily absorbed intodeep tissue, and with its wonderful emollient properties, makes itideal for mature skins as well as helping to relieve the drynessand itching of psoriasis and eczema.
