Blast furnace has low standard for Mn ore quality. The Mn/Fe ratio will have a direct effect on the final ferromanganese product. The iron oxide is fully reduced in the blast furnace, taking part in the ferroalloy, a low Mn/Fe ratio may imply that FeMn be below specification in Mn content. The phosphorus should not be too high.
The size of ferromanganese blast furnace has 55m3, 100m3, 175m3, 200m3 and 300m3 all these sizes belong to mini blast furnaces. The bosh of blast furnace is lined cooling staves and chamotte bricks to prolong the campaign of furnace, and the outer shaft and throat use water spray.
