Nickle ore types and utilizability
The genetic type of nickel ore is laterite nickel silicate oxidized ore, the natural type is limonite and saprolite nickel ore, the limonite nickel ore has low nickel, magnesium and high iron, the nickel content of limonite type ore is usually below 1.4%, the nickel content of saprolite type is about above 1~2%.
According to the nickel content of ore body, nickel ore can divide into low grade nickel ore(Ni 1~1.4%) and rich nickel ore( Ni >1.4%),and high grade nickel ore body(Ni=2%)?At present the technology of beneficiation and metallurgy for laterite nickel ore is already mature. The nickel ore with high Fe and low silicon can use blast furnace, and the ore with high nickel and low Fe and Mg can use submerged arc furnace.
